Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking official said the vandalism left him without words and needed to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
