Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired two times late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
